Presentation Evaluation Year 9
Combined results schools in Grampians Region - Victoria
Overview

The respondents to the evaluation have shown that the session was interesting, that they would like to do it again, and that it was fun, and worthwhile. After the session, the majority of them felt more wise, and some indicated that they felt better and that they had learnt a lot about things.

They felt that Bernard had adequately covered the issues of communication, the opposite sex, drinking/drugs, sex and the law (Refer to Q3). Although a small minority felt that more could have been said on communication and the law.

Question 4 highlights their top issues (based on our questionnaire). In Question 5 we asked them "what issues impact on them the most", and their replies, support and verify their answers to question 4. It also again highlights the issues of relationships, sex, drugs, drinking and communication.

46 of the respondents indicated that they would like more sessions like this, and that the Presenter (Bernard Denner) related to their issues.

They were asked to rate Bernard's presentation on a scale from 1-10, 1 being poor and 10 being excellent. Only 2 of the respondents rated him below 7, the rest were 8 and above, giving him an average of 8.8 out of 10.

Extract of student comments on the Program

  • I think it was really good that you talked about pregnancy.
  • I thought it was fairly good, there was lots of info and opinions that I would certainly use. I thought it really suited us and our age group. I disagree with one thing, sometimes it's not so easy to persuade parents and talk to them on things. Sometimes they can be difficult.
  • It was good to talk about it because it does happen and it will.
  • There was one thing I didn't get when he/Bernard said start dating now, but in school the teachers always give you a detention or suspension or talk to you parents when you hold hands.
  • I thought it was really good. I learnt a lot of things, but next time if ever I would like to learn more about talking to parents on important issues.
  • It was very good. It's good that it was made sort of "light" but still dealt with serious issues.
  • I thought it was worthwhile doing this session.
  • The guys should watch what they say some things they say can hurt.
  • Good that Bernard related to personal experience - quite funny.
  • I thought that this session was very worthwhile and fun. The presenter approached us very well and made me feel comfortable in the class. It was good how he related issues and presented them in language we understand.
  • It's not the size of the whale, it's the motion in the ocean.
  • I want sex.
  • I like the part about the opposite sex. School sucks because they never speak as frankly as you did and that's what I think is good about your program.
  • It would be better if the girls asked us how we felt about them.
  • I think that was great mate good on ya buddy.
