BOYS:

  • Approximately 96% of boys felt that the session was informative (33%), worthwhile (26%), fun (15%) or they would do it again (21%)
  • 85% of boys believed that boys or girls should not be forced into sex, whilst 15% thought they should
  • Of the boys surveyed 87% have experienced alcohol, 69% pashing, 40% heavy petting, 33% illegal drugs, 19% oral sex and 18% intercourse
  • Reasons listed for these experiences, in order of preference, included fun (46%), finding out (40%), peer pressure (6%), its illegal (4%), showing off (3%) and forced (1%)
  • Reason listed for not experiencing these activities, in order of preference, included not ready or interested (36%), its illegal (28%), safer (19%) and parents (17%)
  • 94% of boys said they would practice safe sex
  • Reasons for not practising safe sex included affected by drink or drugs (48%), forgot a condom (22%), pressure not to (70%), think it's better without a condom (8%) and other (15%)
  • 90% of boys felt the presenter related to their issues
  • 98% of boys rated the presentation as either pretty good (60%) or cool (38%)
  • Boys reported a number of feelings after the session including, that they felt wiser after the session (29%), better (29%), same as before (25%), and happy with myself (14%)
  • 12% of boys reported that they needed someone to talk to
  • The most popular responses for those people they would like to speak to included friends (43%) or parents (20%)
  • 90% of boys reported that they would attend the next session.

GIRLS:

  • Approximately 98% of girls felt that the session was informative (33%), worthwhile (33%), fun (15%) or they would do it again (16%)
  • 96% of girls believed that boys or girls should not be forced into sex
  • Of the girls surveyed 87% have experienced alcohol, 80% pashing, 52% heavy petting, 31% illegal drugs, 29% oral sex and 24% intercourse
  • Reasons listed for these experiences, in order of preference, included fun (46%), finding out (41%), peer pressure (6%), its illegal (3%), forced (3%) and showing off (1%)
  • Reason listed for not experiencing these activities, in order of preference, included not ready or interested (35%), its illegal (11%), safer (39%) and parents (15%)
  • 98% of girls said they would practice safe sex
  • Reasons for not practising safe sex included affected by drink or drugs (48%), forgot a condom (21%), pressure not to (9%), think it's better without a condom (5%) and other (15%)
  • 91% of girls felt the presenter related to their issues
  • 98% of girls rated the presentation as either pretty good (50%), cool (30%), or ok (18%)
  • Girls reported a number of feelings after the session including, that they felt wiser after the session (28%), better (24%), same as before (24%), and happy with myself (18%)
  • 23% of girls reported that they needed someone to talk to
  • The most popular responses for those people they would like to speak to included friends (51%) or parents (17%)
  • 96% of girls reported that they would attend the next session.
