  • 9.5% took part as they were concerned for their health
  • 6% took part because of a Family History of heart problems
  • 8% took part because it was available
  • 9.5% took part because they needed a check up
  • 4.5% took part because their partner enouraged them
  • Overall all participants had a good grasp of what they thought the risk factors for Cardiovascular Disease were:
Smoking 81.5%
Family History 81.5%
Overweight 84.5%
Poor Diet 62%
Age 40.5%
Lack of Exercise 82%
High Cholsterol 68.5%
High Blood Pressure 67%
  • 9% felt that they were at risk of Cardiovascular Disease
  • 37.5% felt that they were at risk of Cardiovascular Disease
  • 45.5% felt that they had no risk
  • 27.5% had changed their lifestyle habits to decrease their risk of Cardiovascular Disease
  • 42% had moderately changed their lifestyle habits to decrease their risk of Cardiovascular Disease
  • 37.5% had not changed their lifestyle habits

Habits that they changed:

Cut Back/Given up smoking 11%
Lost Weight 12.5%
Reduced Choleserol 8%
Reviewed Diet 45.5%
More Exercise 31%
Visited a GP 13%
  • 24.5% are seeing a GP for existing conditions
  • 73% are not seeing a GP for existing conditions
